Reddit.com/r/rule34/ is an adult only subreddit where users can discuss, post and share Rule 34 related content. Rule 34 is a form of internet slang which states that, “if it exists, or can be imagined, there is pornography of it”. This subreddit serves as an attractive forum for discussion, humour and imagery around this idea. The subreddit provides a safe space to have conversations based on sexual content without fear of judgement from outside sources or having to worry about moderation taking the content off the site.

Understandably, there are rules in place for posting in this subreddit. Across the board Reddit does not allow pornographic material beyond simple nudity and it follows that r/rule34 also attempts to adhere to these rules as closely as possible. Users must interact with one another civilly and anything considered excessively graphic or NSFW must be posted behind a link requiring explicit permission from visitors before being able to view it. Similarly any posts with links leading to sites that charge money will be quickly removed by moderators in order to protect users from malicious behaviour.

Also, avatars are not permitted on this page – instead Reddit’s mascot Snoo takes over the role where typically an avatar might be expected so viewers know they are in a space specifically dedicated towards Rule 34 discussion and posting activity.

Despite such measures in place to ensure polite behaviour amongst visitors and discourage any sort of cyber-bullying, this subreddit still carries with it a certain notoriety as many deem anything related to Rule 34 inappropriate – however all postings remain firmly within Reddit guidelines (so long as everybody respects them) granting those curious enough the opportunity to explore this side of their sexuality without fear of censorship or reprimand from peers and moderators alike!
